It doesn’t matter how old you are everyone likes to occasionally transport themselves back to their childhood. It was a time when things were much simpler and all you had to worry about was who you were going to play with at school that day.
It’s my housemates 21st birthday and a strictly 90s dress code has been set, so of course I’m obliging and going as a general mash-up of all things 90s. So my friend Helena (theedgeofbeauty7) and I went shopping in search of anything I could use. Now the 1990’s may not have been the best decade for fashion but I’m proud to be a 90s kid, we had ‘Live and Kicking’, jelly shoes, hair mascara, VHS and the Spice Girls!
First stop Primark, where we found this amazing ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ t-shirt (in the guys section) and a steal at only £6.
I was so excited for my jelly shoes to arrive; I live in them when I was young couldn’t wait to have them. I found this black pair on Amazon.
I didn’t know until they’d arrived that they have this great butterfly pattern on the bottom, bonus!
For every little girl going to primary school in the 90s these socks were pretty much a staple. After a long search we finally found some in Matalan’s kids section. Hopefully they’ll stretch to fit my size five feet, as the largest we could find were 12½ - 3½. 3 pairs for only £3
Claire’s has proven to be a treasure trove where we found these to top off our outfits.
Stay tuned to hear how the night went…
